Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the $160 million investment in new flight simulators reflects Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future. At the launch of these two advanced simulators, the Prime Minister noted that this initiative signifies a commitment to enhancing Fiji’s status as a hub for aviation training in the Asia Pacific.

He pointed out that Fiji Airways currently accounts for over 65-70 percent of all visitors to Fiji, and its global marketing efforts surpass those of any other organization promoting travel and tourism to the country.
The Prime Minister underscored that the expanded training capabilities of the Aviation Academy will help maintain the highest standards of safety and service, which are essential for improving the travel experience of visitors. He also highlighted that these investments are in line with the Government’s broader vision for sustainable development.
Rabuka acknowledged Fiji Airways not only as a leader in aviation but also as an innovator in environmental stewardship. He stated, “This facility serves as a catalyst for economic activity, benefiting local businesses and contributing to our nation’s overall prosperity.” Furthermore, he asserted that Fiji continues to be an attractive destination for both foreign and domestic investments, noting that the significant investment by Fiji Airways in high-tech infrastructure showcases the strong investment climate in the country, particularly in the aviation sector.
