Fiji’s Silver Medal: A Triumph of National Pride

Fiji Rugby Union’s interim chairman Peter Mazey lauded the Team Fiji men’s 7s for their impressive silver medal accomplishment, emphasizing that it represents more than just an award; it embodies national pride and a united effort.

Speaking at a welcome ceremony for the team on Sunday, Mazey praised the players for their remarkable achievement, pointing out that it highlights their dedication and encapsulates the true essence of Fiji’s spirit.

This is a monumental moment for us all, not merely as supporters but as a united family celebrating your extraordinary success that has filled Fiji with pride,” Mazey stated. He expressed gratitude towards the athletes, acknowledging their historical achievement of securing the silver medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

“We are filled with immense joy and admiration; thank you for making history by winning the silver medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This accomplishment stands as a testament and a shining example of Fiji’s spirit, reflecting the faith we all held in you. From the moment you took to the grand stage in Paris, it was something special for us, showcasing the pride of Fijian rugby,” he added.

Mazey also noted that the team’s success not only represented the nation on an international stage but has also inspired young athletes to aspire to wear that prestigious jersey.

He concluded by expressing his appreciation to the coaching staff, management, and medical team for their steadfast support and dedication, highlighting their commitment as truly inspiring and deserving of pride.

Fiji’s 7s team has a rich legacy of achievement, including two Olympic gold medals from the Rio and Tokyo Games. This year, they further enhanced their accolades by securing the silver medal.
