Fiji’s Sebastian Singh, known as “The Sniper,” is gearing up for his highly anticipated matchup against “King” Tonga Tongotongo this Saturday. The fight, which will take place at Prince Charles Park, is for the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Singh expressed confidence in his team’s preparation leading up to the fight.
“We’ve trained really hard for this fight, knowing exactly what we’re up against. It’s going to be tough, but we’ve left no stone unturned,” Singh stated. Although he has faced tougher opponents internationally, he acknowledges feeling nervous about fighting in front of his home crowd.
“It’s always different fighting at home,” he admitted. “But having the support of the kids I work with, the community, and my family is what drives me.” This fight holds additional significance for Singh, as his father has been ill, and winning the title would be a meaningful accomplishment for him.
“This fight is not just for me, but for my dad, my team, and all the kids I work with,” he added. Regarding his strategy, Singh plans to break down his opponent and aims for a stoppage later in the fight.
“I’ve fought fighters with better records than him before. It’s just another fight. We’ve done the hard work, and I believe it’ll show in the ring,” Singh remarked confidently. He is also looking forward to the presence of boxing legend Sonny Bill Williams, who will be the chief guest at the event.
“I’ve fought on a show hosted by Sonny’s team in Australia, and hopefully, I can impress again and open up more opportunities abroad,” he said. Despite the excitement and support surrounding the event, Singh remains focused on the challenge ahead.
“I’m not looking past this fight. Right now, it’s all about getting through Tonga. After that, whatever comes my way, I’ll be ready,” he concluded. Fans of boxing across Fiji and beyond are eager to see if Singh can bring home a victory, not only for himself but for his family, supporters, and the nation.
