The President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, commended the joint efforts of schools, organizers, parents, and sponsors for creating a supportive atmosphere for secondary school rugby. Speaking at the 85th Fiji Secondary Schools Under 18 Deans final at HFC Stadium, he highlighted the important role rugby plays in shaping the futures of young Fijians.
“It is always a pleasure to celebrate rugby moments at home, particularly when they involve our students – our children,” President Katonivere stated. He acknowledged the significance of the event, marking 85 years of Fiji Secondary School Rugby and the final of the 2024 DEANS Competition.
The President encouraged the student players to value their experiences and the friendships they have made, urging them to return even stronger in the following year. He mentioned, “There are many young boys and girls who would want to be in your shoes. Enjoy the moment. Cherish the friendships. Take the lessons you have learned along the way and return better players next year.”
Furthermore, he expressed his sincere appreciation to parents and supporters for their steadfast dedication to the players’ welfare.
