Fiji’s Road to Democracy: A New Era of Hope and Unity

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, stated that the current Government has fulfilled its commitment to restoring freedom to the people of Fiji by ending the oppressive governance of two individuals.

Speaking at the National Federation Party Annual Convention, Professor Prasad emphasized that the Government is focused on rebuilding a democratic and accountable system in Fiji. He noted that the Party has honored its promise to eliminate fear and intimidation and to engage in consultation with the public.

Professor Prasad urged members to support this ongoing effort and to back the Government’s initiatives aimed at improving Fiji. He highlighted the National Federation Party as Fiji’s oldest political party, which has endured through challenges when even stronger parties have disappeared.

He remarked that the Party has survived due to a shared belief in common values and aspirations for the nation. The Party is united in its love for Fiji and its desire to enhance its future. He stressed the importance of unity and peace, along with providing assistance to the most vulnerable citizens to elevate their quality of life.

Professor Prasad concluded by reiterating the Party’s commitment to building a better Fiji, one that is more equitable and just.
