Fiji’s Rising Stars: Shiri Guru Nanak School Claims Mathematics Glory!

Shiri Guru Nanak Khalsa Primary School has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the Fiji Mathematics Competition (FMC) for Year Eight for the first time this year. The school’s team, comprised of Danish Prasad, Aarav Chand, Taniska Lal, and Ishita Lata, successfully solved 20 questions in just 31 minutes during the event held at the Latter-Day Saints Church in Tamavua, Suva, last Saturday.

Team leader and head girl Taniska expressed confidence in their performance, noting that they were already champions from the Northern Zone competition. “We dedicated around four weeks to prepare with the help of our teachers, Kamlesh Karan and Ashweeni Dutt,” Ms. Lal shared.

The competition attracted 14 schools from across Fiji, making their victory a significant accomplishment. School head teacher Rajesh Kumar acknowledged the support from the school manager, parents, and other families who collaborated to raise funds for the students’ travel to Suva.

Mr. Kumar remarked, “This is the first time Year Eight students have reached this level, and bringing home the top trophy is truly a blessing.” He emphasized the school’s commitment to holistic development and stated that such competitions inspire other students to discover their strengths and excel academically.
