Fiji’s Rising Star: Talei Moodie Geared Up for World Cup Challenge

Talei Moodie, the latest recruit for the Fiji Young Kulas under-20 team, is eager to represent her country as they prepare for their opening match against Brazil in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The 20-year-old forward from California State University, Fullerton, joined her teammates in Medellin, Colombia, recently and has quickly become an integral part of the squad.

Moodie is among three overseas players in the team, alongside 15-year-old goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma and Preeya Singh. Head coach Angeline Chua has noted Moodie’s impressive intensity and focus during training sessions.

The coaching staff has commended Moodie for her game awareness and her readiness to adapt to various roles within the team. “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are exactly what we need as we prepare for tough competition like Brazil,” Chua stated.

Moodie expressed her excitement for the opportunity to train with such a dedicated and welcoming group, and she looks forward to contributing to the team’s efforts, particularly in the upcoming match against Brazil. “I’m happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil,” she said.

The Young Kulas are set to face Brazil in their first match today at 11 am.
