Fiji has achieved the impressive ranking of #3 on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel list for 2025. This annual list recognizes the top 30 countries, regions, and cities worldwide, as selected by the travel experts at Lonely Planet.

Lonely Planet is well known for its travel publications, which set the benchmark for thorough, practical, and insightful travel guides. Their materials encompass a wide range of destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, providing trusted recommendations aimed at low- and mid-budget travelers. These guidebooks and digital resources include valuable on-the-ground advice, cultural experiences, and local insights to help visitors connect with the essence of each place.

Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, expressed the significance of this recognition, stating, “While the primary focus of our efforts is to ensure that Fiji remains a premier destination for travelers, accolades like this are incredibly encouraging. They serve as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire tourism industry, from local businesses to hospitality professionals.”

He emphasized that this accolade indicates progress in their initiatives but also highlighted the importance of sustainable growth within the tourism sector. Hill noted that the focus should be on ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism reach all Fijians and that maintaining competitiveness in the global market is crucial. He reiterated the need for continued investment in Fiji’s tourism industry to build the economy, support local businesses, and prioritize sustainability, calling for a commitment to build on this momentum.
