The Textile Clothing and Footwear Council of Fiji (TCF Council) will be sending representatives to the Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) taking place this month. This exhibition is highly anticipated as it marks Fiji’s return after the disruptions caused by the COVID pandemic.
Fiji has established itself as a significant regional sourcing hub for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. The TCF Council highlighted the ‘Make it in Fiji’ initiative, which began over a decade ago with support from AusAID, revitalizing an industry that had been struggling.
The council emphasized that Fijian manufacturers have successfully developed products for markets including America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. Unlike larger competitors such as China, Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam, Fiji focuses on flexibility, quality, and smaller production runs, allowing it to cater effectively to varying customer needs.
Fiji’s manufacturers are known for their commitment to quality and their responsive service, characterized by a ‘can do’ attitude and a strong adherence to social and corporate responsibilities. The ability to offer shorter, customized runs combined with English-speaking capabilities enhances the country’s reputation for premier customer service.
Confirmed attendees from Fiji at the AISF include Danam (Fiji) Pte Ltd, Nagsun Apparel Fiji Ltd, and United Apparel (Fiji) Pte Ltd. The fair is scheduled to be held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in South Bank, Victoria, from November 19-21.
This event not only represents an opportunity for Fijian businesses to showcase their products but also highlights the resilience and adaptability of the textile and footwear industry in Fiji. The return to international exhibitions signals a hopeful rebound from pandemic challenges, paving the way for new partnerships and growth in the future.
