Key figures in Fiji’s financial sector gathered at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on October 16 to commemorate the Reserve Bank of Fiji’s achievement in winning the prestigious ‘Nestor Espenilla Jr Financial Inclusion Innovation Award’ during the 2024 Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) Awards ceremony.
This award is presented to institutions that have shown leadership in utilizing technology to enhance financial inclusion, while also sharing their insights with global peers.
Dr. Eliki Boletawa, AFI’s Director of Policy Program and Implementation, emphasized that award recipients exemplify the essence of innovation and the ability of technology to drive inclusive financial systems. He noted that the award underscores the significance of technology in making financial services more accessible, affordable, and inclusive, while also reinforcing the Reserve Bank of Fiji’s leadership role in promoting financial inclusion in the Pacific region.
