Fiji’s Prime Minister Strengthens Ties in New Zealand for Fiji Day Celebration

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is currently on a two-day official visit aimed at enhancing relations with New Zealand while celebrating Fiji Day with the Fijian community in Aotearoa. During his visit, he met with Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, and New Zealand’s Minister for Climate Change, Simon Watts. Accompanying him were Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Lesi Korovavala, and his wife, Sulueti Rabuka.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to discuss crucial areas of cooperation, such as regional security, economic relations, and climate change, which are part of the Fiji-New Zealand Duavata Partnership. Furthermore, Rabuka has been invited to officiate at the Fiji Day celebrations taking place at Mangere Centre Park in Auckland.

During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister. Following his engagements in New Zealand, Rabuka will proceed to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) next Wednesday.
