Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will embark on an official visit to China starting Monday, as confirmed by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During this visit, the leaders from both nations are expected to engage in extensive discussions regarding the bilateral relations between China and Fiji, along with key mutual interests. China aims to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership, which is rooted in mutual respect and collaborative development, and to strengthen ties with Fiji in building a closer community for a shared future between China and Pacific Island countries.
Notably, Fiji was the first Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic relations with China. Over the past 49 years, these diplomatic ties have progressed significantly, yielding fruitful exchanges and cooperation across various sectors, benefiting citizens of both nations.
The visit comes at the invitation of China’s Premier of the State Council, Li Qiang.
