The anticipation is surging as the Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championship draws near, creating a buzz like never before, according to Fiji Primary Schools Athletics president Patrick Bower. This year, a record 21 districts are set to participate, heightening the excitement among students and their parents.

Bower expressed his delight at the students’ eagerness to demonstrate their athletic skills on the track, stating, “The hype we are experiencing is truly remarkable. Students are eagerly awaiting the start of the games.” He also mentioned that even schools from Vanualevu have shown interest in hosting the competition, despite some challenges with proper facilities.

The increase in participating schools reflects the efforts made to engage with districts and provide essential support. Bower emphasized the significance of training officials to ensure that all aspects of the event are adequately prepared. He stated, “We are focused on monitoring and training officials from the districts, which helps them prepare athletes for the games.”

With a considerable number of submissions already processed, Bower mentioned that all preparations are on track and everyone is collaborating well. “By Tuesday next week, everything will be set and ready to go,” he assured. He also credited the support of sponsors like Tuckers, which has been vital for the success of the event by providing necessary resources.

As the countdown to this highly anticipated competition continues, Bower and his team are diligently working to ensure a seamless championship. The two-day event is scheduled to take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva next Thursday and Friday.

In summary, the upcoming athletics championship not only showcases the dedication and talent of young athletes but also highlights the community’s collaborative efforts to foster sports at the primary school level. The heightened enthusiasm and support from sponsors promise a successful and inspiring event for all involved.
