The Electoral Commission of Fiji (ECF) convened today to address the appeal filed by Opposition MP Alvick Maharaj regarding the deregistration of the Fiji First Party by the Registrar of Political Parties, effective July 1, 2024. ECF Chair Barbara Malimali indicated that the proceedings are currently in progress and emphasized that a decision will be published once the process is complete. She requested the public’s understanding and patience during this time, stating that they are unable to provide further comments until the decision is finalized.
