The Minister of Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu, has issued a firm warning to members contemplating leaving the People’s Alliance Party or establishing their own political group, stating, “we don’t need you, neither does Fiji.” His remarks follow Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s disclosure of potential factions within the party, including individuals in Cabinet who are considering a split to form a new party by 2026.
Rayalu expressed his strong support for Prime Minister Rabuka and reiterated the unity of the People’s Alliance Party. He emphasized the importance of loyalty and collective purpose, declaring, “Let me be absolutely clear: there is no room for division, disloyalty, or personal agendas.”
He urged any members considering a departure to leave promptly, reinforcing that their presence is not required and highlighting the party’s mandate that arose from the significant public support during the 2022 General Election. Rayalu pledged his commitment to serving the Fijian people and vowed that internal discord or individual ambitions would not hinder their progress.
“Our focus is on the future of Fiji, and the People’s Alliance Party is committed to building a better nation for all Fijians,” he asserted, concluding that the party will continue to advance confidently, independent of dissenting voices.
