Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu has opted not to comment on the government’s recent initiative to amend the powers held by the Attorney General under the Constitution. Seruiratu, reflecting on his previous experience in the government, mentioned that there was no inclination to challenge the Attorney General’s powers during his tenure as they were part of the government, stating, “We were part of the government; any concerns should have been expressed by the Opposition, but they weren’t raised at that time.” As a result, he feels no further commentary is necessary regarding the current discussions about the amendments.
