Two additional individuals have been charged by the Fiji Police M-Paisa Task Force for allegedly acquiring financial benefits through deception.

In the first case, a 35-year-old woman from Namara, Labasa, is accused of obtaining $320 from a member of the public via the M-Paisa platform on March 16, 2024. Investigations revealed that the victim sent the amount believing it was intended for a family friend who had requested the funds. After confirming with the family friend who denied making such a request, the victim reported the incident to the police.

In a separate case, a 20-year-old man from Nabekavu, Labasa, faces a charge for allegedly dishonestly obtaining $200. The victim, on May 15, 2024, sent the money in response to a Facebook advertisement for a phone that was for sale. The accused allegedly withdrew the funds and subsequently cut off communication with the victim.

Both individuals are set to appear in Labasa Magistrates Court today.
