Fiji’s PM Strengthens Ties with New Zealand Ahead of Fiji Day Celebration

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is undertaking a two-day official visit to New Zealand to strengthen ties and celebrate Fiji Day with the Fijian community in the country. During his visit, he met with Fiji’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, as well as New Zealand’s Minister for Climate Change, Simon Watts. Accompanying him are Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Lesi Korovavala, and his wife, Sulueti Rabuka.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with his New Zealand counterpart, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, to discuss important areas of collaboration such as regional security, economic relations, and climate change, all part of the Fiji-New Zealand Duavata Partnership. Additionally, Rabuka has been invited to officiate at the Fiji Day celebrations taking place at Mangere Centre Park in Auckland.

While he is away, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica will assume the role of Acting Prime Minister. Following his engagement in New Zealand, Rabuka will head to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) next Wednesday.
