Fiji’s PM Praises China’s Rural Transformation During Official Visit

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has praised China’s efforts in rural revitalization during his official visit to the country. This week, Rabuka visited a border region in Yunnan Province, expressing his desire for collaborative initiatives with local authorities on rural development.

In an interview with CGTN, the Prime Minister shared his astonishment at the transformation of a village over the last 32 years, recalling that he was also Prime Minister of Fiji back in 1992. He noted, “Nowhere in Fiji have we seen any improvement as substantial as what we have observed here. I commend both previous and current Chinese leaders, especially President Xi Jinping, for their dedication to alleviating poverty and improving living standards, particularly in underprivileged areas inhabited by ethnic minorities.”

On Tuesday, Rabuka explored Malipo County, located along the China-Vietnam border. His visit included two villages, Ping’anpo and Nanyou, where he observed advancements in agricultural practices, education, and the preservation of ethnic cultures.

The Prime Minister expressed his admiration for the rapid and significant changes these remote villages have experienced. Rabuka is currently on a 10-day tour of the People’s Republic of China.
