Fiji’s PM Heads to China: A New Chapter Awaits

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to embark on an official visit to China starting Monday, as confirmed by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the visit, the leaders of both nations will engage in detailed discussions regarding the relationship between China and Fiji, as well as other significant issues of mutual interest.

China aims to elevate its comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji, which is built on mutual respect and shared development, and to strengthen the ties between China and Pacific Island countries. Fiji is noted as the first Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic relations with China, and over the past 49 years, their relationship has progressed, leading to successful exchanges and collaborations across various sectors that have benefited both nations.

This visit comes at the invitation of Li Qiang, the Premier of the State Council of China.
