The 96th Pineapple Cup, a renowned bowling tournament in Fiji, kicked off yesterday at the Fiji Bowling Club in Suva. Competitors faced off in the singles category as bowling balls aimed for the jack.
Litia Tikoisuva, the tournament coordinator, expressed her appreciation for the continued support from sponsors Kontiki Finance. “We’ve been fortunate to have Kontiki Finance sponsor us for over eight years,” she stated. “This weekend they provided $5,000, not including the t-shirts they sponsored as well.”
Tikoisuva, who holds the title of defending champion in the women’s category, highlighted the event’s strong participation, with a total of 40 players in attendance. “We have a great turnout, and as you can see, the club is quite full. In the singles category, it could be anyone’s day to win,” she remarked.
The tournament features a mix of both new and seasoned bowlers. The competition is set to conclude today.
