Fiji’s Permanent Secretaries Renewed: A Vision for Growth!

The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with the Prime Minister, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries to continue their leadership in various ministries as the country progresses into the next stage of growth and development.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada explained that the decision to reappoint these officials followed a thorough recruitment process, concluding that their in-depth knowledge of their respective ministries, established records of success, and forward-thinking vision make them ideal candidates for continued leadership.

Mr. Pita Tagicakirewa will serve as the Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts until November 2025. Ms. Seema Sharma will continue as the Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025. Mr. Yogesh Karan has been reappointed as the Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry, also until December 2025.

Mr. Shaheen Ali will remain in his role as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025. Ms. Susan Kiran has been confirmed as Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026 and will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting from September 2, 2024.

Lastly, Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources, with plans for her reassignment to a new ministry in October 2024.

Chairman Rokovada emphasized that all reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting Fiji’s growing talent pool and the success of its Civil Service in attracting and retaining high-quality professionals.
