Fiji’s Peacekeeping Pledge: A New Chapter Begins

On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially began at Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), led by Lieutenant Colonel (Lt-Col) Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation (CSO OPS) of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Lt-Col Koro welcomed the Batt 43 PDT members and highlighted Fiji’s essential role in the worldwide quest for stability and peace, signifying this through their pre-deployment training for the mission.

“You will embody the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent. Our history in peacekeeping is rich, marked by examples of courage and commitment,” stated Lt-Col Koro.

He urged the participants to build strong connections with each other and cultivate a spirit of cooperation and solidarity that would endure throughout their deployment. “As ambassadors of peace, let’s develop relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he added.

Lt-Col Koro encouraged everyone to approach the training with curiosity, an open mind, and a readiness to learn. He concluded by advising the attendees to collaborate closely, maintain good judgment, and uphold their commitment to the values of peace.
