Fiji’s Peacekeepers Prepare for Global Mission

On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) was officially launched at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC) by Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation (CSO OPS) of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Lt-Col Koro welcomed the members of Batt 43 PDT and highlighted Fiji’s significant role in the global efforts for stability and peace. He emphasized that the pre-embarkation training is a key part of their mission.

“You will carry the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, teamwork, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” stated Lt-Col Koro. He noted that Fiji has a rich history in peacekeeping, filled with examples of courage and commitment.

He encouraged the team to strengthen their connections and create a sense of cooperation and unity that would persist throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let’s build relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he urged.

Lt-Col Koro also encouraged participants to engage with the training earnestly, adopting a curious and open-minded approach while embracing the opportunity to learn.

In closing, he advised the Batt 43 PDT members to collaborate closely, remain open-minded, and consistently demonstrate sound judgment, care, and commitment to upholding the principles of peace.
