On August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), led by Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer of Operations for the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
During his address to the Batt 43 PDT members, Lt-Col Koro highlighted Fiji’s significant role in promoting global stability and peace, underscoring the importance of their training as preparation for the mission ahead.
“You will carry the ideals of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as you represent the 43-member Fijian contingent,” Lt-Col Koro remarked, reflecting on Fiji’s rich history of peacekeeping marked by bravery and dedication.
He encouraged the participants to build strong connections and foster a sense of solidarity that would endure throughout their mission. As ambassadors of peace, he urged them to form relationships during their training that would enhance their effectiveness in the field.
Lt-Col Koro further advised the trainees to approach their training with curiosity, an open mindset, and a commitment to learning. He stressed the importance of collaboration, good judgment, and a steadfast dedication to upholding the values of peace throughout their deployment.
