On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), led by Lieutenant Colonel (Lt-Col) Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation (CSO OPS) of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
During his introductory remarks, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the members of Batt 43 PDT and highlighted Fiji’s essential role in the global effort for stability and peace, emphasizing the importance of the pre-embarkation training in this mission.
“You will embody the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” he stated, recognizing the nation’s solid peacekeeping history rooted in bravery and dedication.
Lt-Col Koro urged the participants to cultivate strong connections and foster cooperation and solidarity that would endure throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let’s build relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he noted.
He encouraged all participants to engage with curiosity, maintain an open mind, and embrace a readiness to learn throughout the training.
In conclusion, Lt-Col Koro emphasized the importance of teamwork, good judgment, prudence, and the commitment to upholding the values of peace among the members of Batt 43 PDT.
