Fiji’s Peacekeepers Gear Up for Global Mission

On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Battalion 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC). The event was led by Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operations of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

In his opening remarks, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the members of Battalion 43 PDT and highlighted Fiji’s significant role in promoting global stability and harmony, stressing the importance of their pre-embarkation training for the upcoming mission.

“You will carry with you the ideals of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent. Our history in peacekeeping is well-established, illustrated by numerous acts of bravery and commitment,” said Lt-Col Koro.

He encouraged the participants to build strong connections among themselves and foster a spirit of cooperation and solidarity that would endure throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let us cultivate relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he noted.

Lt-Col Koro urged the trainees to engage with the training with an inquisitive spirit, an open mind, and a readiness to learn. He concluded by advising them to collaborate closely, always demonstrating good judgment, prudence, and dedication to the principles of peace.
