On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC). Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, led the opening ceremony.

During his introductory remarks, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the Batt 43 PDT members and highlighted Fiji’s significant contribution to global stability and peace. He underscored the importance of the pre-embarkation training as part of the mission.

“You will embody the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” said Lt-Col Koro, referencing Fiji’s extensive history in peacekeeping characterized by bravery and commitment.

He encouraged participants to strengthen connections and foster a spirit of cooperation and solidarity that would endure throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let’s build relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he added.

Lt-Col Koro urged the trainees to engage with the training process through curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to learn. He concluded by emphasizing the need for participants to collaborate closely and practice good judgment, prudence, and commitment to upholding the principles of peace.
