Fiji’s Peacekeepers Gear Up for Global Mission

On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Battalion 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC). The event was led by Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

Lt-Col Koro welcomed the members of Batt 43 PDT, stressing Fiji’s crucial role in the global quest for stability and peace, which is underscored by the preparatory training for their upcoming mission.

He highlighted that the participants would embody the values of Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent. Lt-Col Koro noted the nation’s rich history in peacekeeping, showcasing numerous acts of bravery and commitment.

He encouraged the trainees to build strong connections and foster a spirit of cooperation and solidarity that would endure throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let’s cultivate relationships during training to enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he stated.

He urged all participants to engage with the training process enthusiastically, remaining open-minded and eager to learn.

In conclusion, Lt-Col Koro emphasized the importance of teamwork among the Batt 43 PDT participants as well as the need to maintain good judgment, caution, and dedication to upholding the principles of peace throughout their training.
