On August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC). Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, led the opening ceremony.
In his opening address, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the Batt 43 PDT members and underscored Fiji’s significant role in global stability and peacekeeping efforts, highlighting the importance of this pre-deployment training.
“You will carry the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” he stated, noting that Fiji has a rich history of bravery and commitment in peacekeeping missions.
He encouraged the participants to build strong connections and a sense of solidarity that would enhance their effectiveness during their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let us establish relationships during our training that will bolster your impact in the field,” he added.
Lt-Col Koro urged the trainees to approach the training with curiosity, openness, and a readiness to learn. He emphasized the need for teamwork, good judgment, and steadfast commitment to upholding the values of peace throughout their training and deployment.
