Fiji’s outsourcing industry is poised for significant growth following a major increase in Government funding, as highlighted in the 2024-2025 National Budget. The Government has allocated $1.2 million to Outsource Fiji, marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s efforts to establish itself as a leading outsourcing destination.
Morika Hunter, President of Outsource Fiji, expressed profound gratitude for the heightened financial support, underscoring the transformative effects it would have on the industry.
“We are deeply appreciative of the Fijian Government’s continued support for the outsourcing sector. This substantial allocation of $1.2 million will enable us to spearhead initiatives that will not only create more job opportunities but also allow Outsource Fiji to collaborate extensively with our stakeholders to upskill Fiji’s workforce and those aspiring to join the industry,” said Hunter.
A key objective with the new budget is to address labour migration by raising awareness about the outsourcing industry. Hunter emphasized that by highlighting the international job opportunities available, the organization aims to inform the community that they can secure competitive, well-paying jobs while staying close to their families in Fiji.
Furthermore, the increased funding will bolster Outsource Fiji’s efforts to enhance the country’s risk diversification capabilities. Hunter noted, “Our focus is on making Fiji a well-recognized risk diversification location. This funding will help us further market Fiji’s competitive outsourcing advantages, attracting global brands and investors in necessary areas such as infrastructure, training, and education, thereby creating more employment opportunities for Fijians.”
Sagufta Janif, Executive Director of Outsource Fiji, elaborated on the strategic initiatives planned with the increased funding. “We are looking into obtaining quality certifications to ensure our operators meet international standards, thereby enhancing their service offerings and credibility in the global market. Additionally, we will intensify our efforts to market Fiji as an outsourcing destination in new markets such as the USA and the UK, while continuing to strengthen our presence in existing markets like Australia,” said Janif.
The infusion of $1.2 million is set to propel Fiji’s outsourcing industry forward, enabling it to navigate current challenges and seize emerging opportunities on the global stage.
