Fiji’s outsourcing industry is poised for significant growth following an increase in Government funding as announced in the 2024-2025 National Budget.
The Government has allocated $1.2 million to Outsource Fiji, marking a pivotal step in the country’s strategy to become a leading outsourcing destination.
Outsource Fiji President, Morika Hunter, expressed gratitude for the increased funding, highlighting its transformative impact on the industry.
“We are deeply appreciative of the Fijian Government’s continued support for the outsourcing sector.”
“This substantial allocation of $1.2 million will enable us to spearhead initiatives that will not only create more job opportunities but will also allow Outsource Fiji to collaborate extensively with our stakeholders to upskill Fiji’s workforce and those aspiring to join the industry.”
“One of the primary goals with the new budget is to address labour migration by creating more awareness about the outsourcing industry. Through this budget, Outsource Fiji aims to tackle the pressing issue of labor migration.”
She explained that by promoting the industry and the international job opportunities it offers, the organisation hopes to make people aware that they can secure competitive, well-paying jobs while staying close to their families and communities in Fiji.
“The increased funding will also support Outsource Fiji’s efforts to enhance the country’s risk diversification capabilities.”
“Our focus is on making Fiji a well-recognized risk diversification location. This funding will help us further market Fiji’s competitive outsourcing advantages, attracting global brands and investors in much-needed areas such as infrastructure, training, and education, thereby creating more employment opportunities for Fijians.”
Outsource Fiji Executive Director, Sagufta Janif, elaborated on the strategic initiatives planned with the increased funding.
“We are also looking into obtaining quality certifications to ensure our operators meet international standards, thereby enhancing their service offerings and credibility in the global market.”
“Additionally, we will intensify our efforts to market Fiji as an outsourcing destination in new markets such as the USA and the UK, while continuing to strengthen our presence in existing markets like Australia,” said Janif.
