Fiji’s Outsource Initiative Boosted by $1.2M Budget Allocation

Outsource Fiji president Morika Hunter says the Government’s $1.2 million allocation to the organization in the 2024-2025 Budget will drive efforts to create more job opportunities in Fiji.

She mentions that this funding will help address labour migration by providing Fijians with the opportunity to secure competitive, well-paying jobs while remaining close to their families and communities.

Ms. Hunter stated that the increased funding would also support Outsource Fiji’s endeavors to enhance the country’s risk diversification capabilities.

“Our focus is on making Fiji a well-recognized risk diversification location,” she said. “This funding will help us further market Fiji’s competitive outsourcing advantages, attracting global brands and investors in crucial areas such as infrastructure, training, and education, thereby creating more employment opportunities for Fijians.”

“We are deeply appreciative of the Fijian Government’s continued support for the outsourcing sector. This substantial allocation of $1.2 million will enable us to lead initiatives that will not only create more job opportunities but will also allow Outsource Fiji to collaborate extensively with our stakeholders to upskill Fiji’s workforce and those aspiring to join the industry.”

Ms. Hunter said one of the primary goals with the new budget was to address labour migration by creating more awareness about the outsourcing industry.

Outsource Fiji executive director Sagufta Janif said they were also working on obtaining quality certification to ensure their operators met international standards, thereby enhancing their service offerings and credibility in the global market.

“Additionally, we will intensify our efforts to market Fiji as an outsourcing destination in new markets such as the USA and the UK, while continuing to strengthen our presence in existing markets like Australia,” she said.
