Fiji’s Olympians Shine as Flag Bearers in Paris!

Team Fiji has chosen Olympian swimmer David Young and Taekwondo athlete Venice Traill as the flagbearers for the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Their selection reflects their remarkable achievements and commitment to their respective sports, serving as inspiration for aspiring athletes in Fiji.

David Young, 20, is renowned for his outstanding sprint freestyle talent and has had a remarkable journey. A highlight of his Olympic experience was winning heat 5 of the Men’s 50m Freestyle while setting a new national record with a time of 22.71 seconds. His performance not only demonstrated his impressive speed and skill but also brought pride to Fiji, reinforcing his position as one of the nation’s leading athletes.

Venice Traill, 27, has made significant contributions to the sport of Taekwondo in Fiji. As a pioneer in a discipline with limited visibility in the Pacific region, her dedication and hard work led to her historic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, alongside teammate Lolohea Navuga Naitasi.

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games closing ceremony is scheduled to take place at 6 am tomorrow, and viewers can watch it live on Fiji One!
