Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has formed a sub-committee within the Cabinet dedicated to addressing the country’s drug issues, as announced by Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya during the closing of the Vodafone Rakiraki Carnival on Saturday night. She also noted that a youth had tragically died from a drug overdose the previous week.
“This has to come to an end; we must protect our children and ensure their safety,” she emphasized. “Our nation is relying on us. Let us empower our youth to safeguard their future and pledge ourselves to a drug-free Fiji.”
Tabuya highlighted that her ministry has been receiving reports from parents and guardians regarding their children’s involvement with drugs, stating that this issue is a concern for both the government and community leaders.
