The Attorney-General’s Office will lead the Fiji Human Rights Taskforce, responsible for coordinating, advising, and promoting regular communication among state institutions to help Fiji meet its international human rights commitments. This development follows the endorsement of the Taskforce by the Cabinet. The Fiji Human Rights Taskforce will ensure effective coordination of Fiji’s interactions with international human rights mechanisms, such as the United Nations Human Rights Treaty Bodies, the Universal Periodic Review, and the Special Procedures of the Human Rights Council, while also monitoring the implementation of their recommendations.
