Jackson Bernard Nato Evans has officially been appointed as Fiji’s High Commissioner Designate to Papua New Guinea. The commissioning ceremony was officiated by His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, President of the Republic of Fiji, who extended his congratulations and best wishes to Evans in his new diplomatic role.
Evans comes to this position with an impressive background, having served over 35 years in the military. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Force Development and Strategic Command at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, a position he was reappointed to in 2011. Notably, he led the 1st Battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment as Battalion Commander during a mission in Iraq in May 2007.
His extensive military career also includes serving as the Chief Staff Officer for Force Development at RFMF Headquarters in 2006, and he achieved the rank of Colonel in 2008. Throughout his service, Evans has earned several accolades, including the MFO Peacekeeping Medal for his contributions in Egypt, along with the Multinational Forces Commanders Command Medal for Exemplary Leadership on two occasions in 1999 and 2000.
