Pacific Specialist Healthcare’s birthing facility in Nadi is celebrating its impressive success rate among patients. The hospital encourages expectant parents to check reviews and posts from previous patients on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, highlighting the positive experiences shared by new mothers and fathers.
The obstetrics and gynecology facility is led by Dr. Tui Taoi, Fiji’s top obstetrician and gynecologist. The birthing team comprises only female nurses and nursing assistants, ensuring maximum privacy for expectant mothers. This all-female staff setup has been positively received by many mothers and supported by fathers, according to PSH’s Director and CEO, Parvish Kumar.
Kumar noted, “These mothers thank us for doing this,” adding that after giving birth, mothers enjoy private rooms equipped with a television, a lounge suite, and facilities for making beverages. He described the accommodations as akin to a five-star hotel experience. Kumar also mentioned that fathers are welcomed and encouraged to stay with their partners during their hospital stay.
Recently, the Nadi branch of PSH Hospitals has shifted to a 24-hour operation, which has resulted in a significant increase in nighttime patient visits, particularly from travelers arriving at the airport. Various medical issues, including asthma attacks, food poisoning, fevers, and sudden abdominal pain, have been among the urgent cases reported.
PSH’s affordable consultancy fee of $11.50 has proven beneficial for the public seeking healthcare. The hospital is exploring opportunities to potentially offer free services through collaborations with foreign companies.
Kumar emphasized PSH’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and advancing universal health coverage, stating, “Our core intention is to upgrade health services and provide solutions to society’s hardships.” He noted that numerous patients have received free services and that private hospitals are meant to alleviate pressure from the public healthcare system, providing efficient treatment options.
“PSH Hospitals is a different breed of hospital; come talk to us and you will realize that empathy is in every pulse of PSH Hospitals,” he said. Patients are charged only $11.50 for consultations with general practitioners, regardless of the time of day. Kumar highlighted their competitive pricing for medical procedures, with support available for those unable to pay upfront, including installment plans for major procedures under specific conditions.
