Fiji’s Musical Homecoming: The Epic Return of George Veikoso!

Prince Charles Park is set to welcome the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert next month. Saliceni Raiwalui, the special administrator of Nadi Town Council, announced that final preparations for the park are in progress.

Mr. Raiwalui expressed excitement over the event, stating that it would introduce a fresh vibe to the gathering in Nadi. He remarked, “This show will bring a unique flavor, as it embodies the sound of the Pacific and the spirit of Fiji.”

He noted that the concert represents a significant opportunity for Nadi, highlighting the council’s role in managing the event logistics, including parking at the adjacent Koroivolu Park, while the organizers cover venue costs.

The concert marks Mr. Veikoso’s long-awaited return home after 40 years of promoting Pacific music on an international scale. He emphasized that this homecoming is more than a mere concert, describing it as a joyous affirmation of identity and heritage.

“It’s a celebration of our roots, our culture, and the music that unites us all,” Mr. Veikoso stated. He expressed gratitude for being able to share his life’s work alongside honored artists like J Boog, Maoli, and Josh Tatofi, stating the event would also highlight the power of music to inspire and bring communities together.

A representative from Tourism Fiji expressed enthusiasm for the concert, noting it celebrates Mr. Veikoso’s exceptional talent and elevates Fiji’s rich musical landscape. They view the event as an opportunity to enhance the local economy and foster a sense of community while showcasing Fiji’s unique culture to international visitors.

Ticket prices range from $79 to $999 for VIP access. Local artist Big Wilz shared his support, stating he is willing to pay for the chance to see artists like Pojie, Josh, and Maoli perform, recognizing Mr. Veikoso as a key figure in the music industry.

The concert will take place on September 14-15.
