The Local Government Ministry of Fiji has initiated the recruitment process for qualified individuals to fill the chief executive officer (CEO) roles in ten municipal councils. This move aims to enhance the delivery of municipal services, manage transformative projects, and facilitate essential reforms.

Minister Maciu Nalumisa emphasized that the advertisement of these CEO positions is part of an effort to ensure transparency in the recruitment process. He noted that many of these positions have been unoccupied for some time due to the expiration of previous contracts.

The ministry is looking for candidates who can lead municipal operations toward modernization, effectively respond to community needs, and advocate for sustainable practices. The councils in search of new CEOs include those in Ba, Labasa, Lami, Lautoka, Levuka, Nadi, Tavua, Rakiraki, and Savusavu.

This recruitment initiative is not just a response to current vacancies; it represents an opportunity for economic growth and improvement within local governance. By filling these leadership positions, the ministry can stimulate progress in the community and address the pressing challenges faced by local councils.

In summary, the Ministry’s endeavor to recruit new CEOs reflects its commitment to enhancing municipal services and fostering sustainable development through effective leadership. This presents a hopeful outlook for the future of local governance in Fiji, as qualified individuals step forward to drive change and innovation.
