In November, a total of 943 Fijians left the country for extended periods, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics. Among those, a significant majority, 645 individuals, departed primarily for employment opportunities abroad. Additionally, 175 Fijians emigrated for various reasons, with 131 of them relocating to other countries for five years or more, potentially permanently.

Overall, 19,038 residents of Fiji traveled outside the nation during November, with 17,612 of these trips being short-term absences lasting under three months. These shorter trips were undertaken for purposes such as holidays, education, training, and business engagements.

This trend of overseas migration underscores both the pursuit of job opportunities and the importance of international connections for personal and professional growth among Fijians. It showcases the commitment of many individuals to enhance their skills and experiences, which can ultimately contribute to the development of Fiji upon their return.
