NETBALL Fiji has announced the final squad of 12 players for the Fiji Men’s Netball Team, which will compete at the Singapore Men’s Nations Cup scheduled for December 2-8.
Head coach Jioweli Vakamoce explained that the selection process was rigorous, taking into account various factors such as each player’s strengths and weaknesses, performance, training attendance, teamwork, on-court skills, and leadership abilities.
Vakamoce noted, “The team is in the final stages of preparation and continues to work hard.” He mentioned that they conducted Court Skills training on a public holiday, dedicating time from 7 am to 10 am for practice. As they transition into phase three of their training, full match simulations will be held every Saturday following activation and abs sessions. Additionally, the team is focused on enhancing their physical strength through increased gym workouts as per their training schedule.
Netball Fiji’s CEO, Ms. Vivian Koster, expressed her enthusiasm for the Men’s program’s development and encouraged fans to support the team as they aim to shine on the international stage.
The roster for the Fiji Men’s Netball Team includes Captain Kitione Waqavonovono, Vice-Captain Vilive Wainidroa, alongside players Amena Nacavaraba, Josefata CatiJoseva Nawaqa, Rarawa Vulimainarita, Atonio Lovokuro, Poasa Vulaono, Savenaca Sorovaki, Sireli Tuidrakim, Atonio Bakaniceva, and Nacanieli Goneyali.
In this context, the selection of a dedicated team and the preparation phase reflect the commitment of both the players and coaching staff. With the upcoming tournament, there is potential for Fiji to make a significant impact in men’s netball, showcasing their skills and teamwork on an international platform.
