Fiji’s Leadership Shuffles: Who’s Staying in the Game?

The Public Service Commission, with the Prime Minister’s consent, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries who will continue to lead their respective ministries into the next phase of growth and development.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada indicated that the decision for reappointment followed a thorough recruitment process. The Commission determined that these six Permanent Secretaries are well-equipped to persist in their leadership roles due to their comprehensive understanding of the ministries, established records of success, and strong vision for the future.

Mr. Pita Tagicakirewa has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts until November 2025.

Ms. Seema Sharma will continue as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025.

Mr. Yogesh Karan has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry until December 2025.

Mr. Shaheen Ali will serve as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025.

Ms. Susan Kiran has been reappointed as Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026, and she will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting from September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her transfer to a new ministry in October 2024.

Chairman Rokovada emphasized that all reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, showcasing Fiji’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s ability to attract and retain high-caliber professionals.
