The Public Service Commission, in collaboration with the Prime Minister, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries following a comprehensive recruitment process. PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada emphasized that these leaders will guide their respective ministries through the next stages of growth and development.
Rokovada noted that the decision for reappointment was made after a thorough evaluation, concluding that these individuals possess an in-depth understanding of their ministries, a proven success record, and a strong vision for the future.
The reappointed Permanent Secretaries include:
– Pita Tagicakirewa as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts until November 2025.
– Seema Sharma as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025.
– Yogesh Karan as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and the Sugar Industry until December 2025.
– Shaheen Ali as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025.
– Susan Kiran as Secretary to the Cabinet until June 2026, with an additional role as Permanent Secretary for Information starting September 2, 2024.
– Dr. Raijeli Taga as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her upcoming reassignment to a new Ministry in October 2024.
Rokovada highlighted that all reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, showcasing the nation’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s success in attracting and retaining high-caliber professionals.
