Fiji’s Leadership Shines: Six Key Officials Reappointed for Growth

The Public Service Commission, with the Prime Minister’s approval, has announced the re-appointment of six Permanent Secretaries following a thorough recruitment process. PSC Chairperson Luke Rokovada stated that these individuals will continue to guide their ministries into the next phase of growth and development.

Rokovada emphasized that the decision to reappoint was reached after a meticulous evaluation, concluding that these Permanent Secretaries are particularly well-qualified due to their extensive knowledge of their ministries, a demonstrated history of success, and a strong vision for future advancements.

The reappointed officials include Pita Tagicakirewa as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts through November 2025. Seema Sharma retains her position as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025, while Yogesh Karan continues as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry also until December 2025.

Shaheen Ali will remain as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, with his term ending in December 2025. Susan Kiran has been reappointed Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026, and she will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her reassignment to a different ministry in October 2024.

Rokovada noted that all the reappointed Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting Fiji’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s effectiveness in attracting and retaining highly qualified individuals.
