Fiji’s Leadership Renewed: Six Permanent Secretaries Reappointed for Growth

The Public Service Commission, in agreement with the Prime Minister, has announced the re-appointment of six Permanent Secretaries to guide their respective ministries into the next phase of growth and development.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada noted that the decision to reappoint these officials followed a thorough and competitive recruitment process. The Commission has determined that these six Permanent Secretaries are best equipped to continue leading the ministries due to their comprehensive understanding of their roles, established success records, and strong visions for the future.

Mr. Pita Tagicakirewa has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts until November 2025.

Ms. Seema Sharma will continue as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025.

Mr. Yogesh Karan remains as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry until December 2025.

Mr. Shaheen Ali is reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, also until December 2025.

Ms. Susan Kiran has been reappointed Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026, and she will take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information starting from September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga is reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until her transition to a new ministry in October 2024.

Chairman Luke Rokovada emphasized that all Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting Fiji’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s effectiveness in attracting and retaining high-caliber professionals.
