Fiji’s Leadership Renewed: Key Appointments Announced

The Public Service Commission, with the endorsement of the Prime Minister, has announced the reappointment of six Permanent Secretaries to oversee their respective ministries in a new phase of growth and development.

PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada explained that the reappointments followed a thorough recruitment process. The commission determined that these six officials are best equipped to lead their ministries due to their in-depth knowledge, proven accomplishments, and clear vision for the future.

Mr. Pita Tagicakirewa will continue as Permanent Secretary for I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts until November 2025.

Ms. Seema Sharma has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Local Government until December 2025.

Mr. Yogesh Karan will serve as Permanent Secretary for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar Industry until December 2025.

Mr. Shaheen Ali has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications until December 2025.

Ms. Susan Kiran will remain as Secretary to Cabinet until June 2026 and will also take on the role of Permanent Secretary for Information beginning September 2, 2024.

Dr. Raijeli Taga has been reappointed as Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources until she transitions to a new ministry in October 2024.

Chairman Rokovada noted that all Permanent Secretaries are Fijian nationals, highlighting the country’s growing talent pool and the Civil Service’s ability to attract and retain top-quality professionals.
