Fiji’s Junior Kulas Gear Up for Thrilling OFC Championship Opener

The Fiji Junior Kulas are ready to compete in the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins on Sunday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations as they enter the final week leading up to the tournament.

“The preparation is progressing well, and as we approach our last week, we’re trying to keep everything steady. The girls are in excellent condition and are gearing up for the first match against Tonga,” Rodu told Fiji FA Media.

He anticipates a tough opening game against Tonga, noting that the first match is often the most challenging. “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be easy because the first game is always difficult, but the goal is to settle in and engage fully in the game,” he stated.

Rodu mentioned Tonga’s defensive style, highlighting their tendency to establish a low block, which could pose a challenge for Fiji in scoring. Nonetheless, he remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will address that and aim to secure the three points on Sunday.”

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
