The Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca, stated that the IQ Active competition promotes academic engagement, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
This morning, during the launch of the nation’s largest national secondary school general knowledge quiz competition, Kuruleca highlighted the significance of the IQ Active competition in enhancing educational engagement.
A total of fifty secondary schools, including five maritime institutions, are participating in the 2024 competitions, with over 200 students from various divisions involved.
Kuruleca praised Fiji TV for bringing back the competition and emphasized the importance of teamwork and effective communication among the participants.
“This competition should motivate and develop critical thinking. Rather than viewing a problem from a single perspective, students should be stimulated to think critically and creatively, which enhances their problem-solving skills and intellectual abilities. Prepare by studying as you typically would, then contemplate the most innovative and critical solutions,” she remarked.
Felix Chaudhary, the Acting CEO of Fiji Television, affirmed the company’s dedication to supporting Fiji’s education sector.
“Fiji TV is focused on enhancing literacy and numeracy, and we are very eager to continue this commitment moving forward,” he stated.
The 2024 IQ Active competition is set to debut on October 7th on Fiji One.
