Acting Director of Public Prosecutions Nancy Tikoisuva and Deputy DPP John Rabuku are expected to testify today before the Commission of Inquiry (COI) investigating the appointment of Barbara Malimali as the Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). Former Minister for Forests and Fisheries Kalivati Ravu and Semi Koroilavesau have also been summoned to provide their accounts.
The inquiry, led by Supreme Court Justice David Aston-Lewis, seeks to determine if Malimali’s appointment made in September adheres to legal standards and was free from any improper or unlawful influences. Malimali is being represented by Suva lawyer Tanya Waqanika throughout the proceedings. The COI has committed to delivering its final report to both the President and the Prime Minister by the end of January.
